S-E-A Webinar - Detect the Heat Before You Get Shocked
S-E-A Electrical Engineers, Jim Meyer, P.E., and Tiffany Koerner, P.E., IAAI-CFI, will lead this one-hour live-technology (webinar) presentation that was created because electrical accidents and fire investigations in the insurance industry are complex endeavors that may require experts, such as claims adjusters or attorneys. The right electrical engineer and/or fire investigator can provide the special knowledge, training, education, or skills needed to complete the investigation and guide a team to the best course of action. As part of the expert’s investigation and communication to the adjuster or attorney, technical terms and ideas will come up and need to be understood.

This presentation will provide a basic overview of electricity from generation to distribution. Failure modes and effects (such as arcing, high resistance connections, arc tracking and overloads) of electrical devices and how they relate to fire investigations. Finally, a case study or two will be highlighted along with a Q&A session. The audience will develop a deeper understanding of electrical applications in utility, commercial and residential settings. This will enable adjusters and attorneys to better evaluate their case and ensure the correct parties are involved.

This presentation has been approved for 1 hour of CE credit in FL, TX and IN, and 1 hour of CLE credit in WI, IL and MN.
